The Asticou Hotel sits on land long stewarded by the Wabanaki people, specifically, the People of the Dawn, who have lived in deep relationship with this region for thousands of years. As we carry forward Asticou’s legacy, we do so with respect and reverence for the Indigenous communities who continue to call this land home.

Our team is committed to learning, listening, and engaging in ways that honor Wabanaki history and presence—not as a chapter of the past, but as an enduring and vital part of the story here. We are early in this journey and remain devoted to doing the work thoughtfully and with care.

We are actively learning how to honor the Wabanaki people and their deep connection to this land. Our intention is to uplift and support Indigenous voices without co-opting their stories. As we learn, we remain open, humble, and grateful.
